Yudof addresses state Senate committee today

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â President Mark G. Yudof addressed a state Senate committee today (May 6) on budget cuts to higher education. The hearing of the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee began at 10:15 a.m.; click for the live Webcast. Today’s meeting is not at the Capitol, but at Microsoft Corp. in Mountain View, in the Silicon Valley.

Also, Yudof sent a letter yesterday (May 5) to the university community, updating staff and faculty on °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â advocacy efforts for state financial support. He noted that an an all-cuts budget -- as proposed by Gov. Jerry Brown as an alternative to the tax extensions that he really wants -- "would be devastating to the university and the students and communities we serve, and put at risk our faculty’s research, a critical driver of future jobs and wealth in California."
