Virtual Reality Audio Demonstration

Oct. 29, Friday, 3 p.m. -- °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis researchers will demonstrate a remarkable new experience in sound reproduction that "puts you there." Motion-tracked binaural sound (MTB) captures the distance and direction of sounds, the atmosphere of the place a recording was made, and allows you to turn your attention from one sound to another. A demonstration for media representatives will be held from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Marriot Hotel, 4th Street, San Francisco, prior to a presentation at the 117th Audio Engineering Society Convention. Reporters unable to attend at this time may attend a demonstration on Saturday, Oct. 30 along with convention attendees. Researchers will demonstrate both original recordings made with MTB technology and existing recordings rerendered using the system for a greatly enhanced experience.
