Quick Summary

  • No more “snail mail”: If you used it to send in your paperwork, you may have to resubmit
  • Staff is working remotely, asks you to submit via a secure message in ϲϿRAYS or by fax
  • Planning to retire July 1? You should start the process as soon as possible

“Paperwork” (real paperwork!) has given way to digital processing, by necessity, at ϲϿ’s Retirement Administration Service Center.

The necessity is the coronavirus outbreak, which has forced the center’s personnel to work from home. “During this time ... we will be unable to answer calls as usual, and our ability to process physical mail will be severely limited,” officials said.

So, no more snail mail, which, heretofore, had been the only way for prospective retirees to submit their Request for Retirement Initiation Packet. A digital system had been in the works, and has now been turned on, according to Kyle Urban, director of the ϲϿ Davis Retiree Center.

The bottom line, Urban said: Do not mail in your Request for Retirement Initiation Packet, and if you already mailed it and did not receive your personal retirement profile by return mail, “we strongly recommend resubmitting it” following these new instructions:

  • Download the , fill it out, and save it as a PDF or Word document.
  • Submit it electronically as a secure message attachment through your .
  • Or, submit it by fax to 800-792-5178.

If you received your retirement profile in the mail and completed the election worksheet, please submit the completed version via secure messaging on ϲϿRAYS or via fax, 800-792-5178.

Please note: If you plan to retire on July 1, it’s recommended that you start this process as early in April as possible.
