ϲϿ Davis police say they have identified one of two suspects and continue to look for both men in connection with an armed altercation in the south campus Saturday night (May 12). Officers said there was no continuing threat to the campus.

Police say the suspect who has been identified allegedly committed a physical assault at about 11:45 p.m. during an event at the Buehler Alumni Center, inflicting facial injuries on a guest. This suspect is not a ϲϿ Davis student or employee, police said.

He and another man left the venue in a car, only to stop a short distance away, outside the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, where they saw a group of eventgoers, including the victim of the alleged assault. The suspect who has been identified got out of the car and brandished a shotgun at the same person whom he had physically assaulted earlier, police said.

The suspects then drove off on Old Davis Road in what was described as a late model red or burnt orange Ford Mustang, headed for Interstate 80.

Both men were described as East Indian males, 20 to 26 years old, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, each wearing a sleeveless T-shirt, one black, one white.

Police issued text and email WarnMe alerts and a “campus timely warning” as required by federal law.
