It's another jam-packed weekend in the arboretum, with a plant sale, an ethnobotanical walk and meditation, and Wild Family Day.
• Some Like It Hot: Summer Bloomers and Sizzling Deals — The bloomers are the stars of the summer garden, the deals are what you might expect at the season-ending clearance sale. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, . Open to the general public — no membership required.
• Ethnobotanical Plant Walk and Meditation — The Arboretum Ambassadors present this program on traditional uses of California native plants for food, medicine and ritual. Tea and meditation will follow. 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, .
• Wild Family Day — The student group Wild Campus, in partnership with the arboretrum, presents this afternoon of games and activities — all aimed at raising awareness of native wildlife and what the community can do to help preserve these critters. Dedicated to the One I Love — Every one of the arboretum's dedications — of places and plants — has a story behind it. Graduate Creative Writing Spring Symposium — In celebration of their advanced degrees, graduate students read their works of fiction and poetry.
