Christine Kreuder Johnson has been named the first director of the , established last year to confront ϲϿ Davis’ Grand Challenge on Emerging Health Threats.
Johnson, professor of epidemiology and ecosystem health in the School of Veterinary Medicine, and associate director of the One Health Institute, has served as a champion of the since its inception in 2022.
“Dr. Johnson possesses unparalleled knowledge of how to mitigate pandemic threats,” said Jonna Mazet, vice provost of . “She is the ideal person to lead the university’s work in building a collaborative, transdisciplinary network to prepare for impending threats to health.”
Johnson is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a U.S. Science Envoy for the Department of State.
