Anne Jones, assistant executive vice chancellor and chief of staff, Office of the Provost, will fill a new senior leadership post in the School of Education: assistant dean of student affairs and community partnerships, effective Monday (Nov. 28). The school established the position with support from the Offices of the Chancellor and Provost.

鈥淎nne Jones is a natural fit for the school due to her extensive background in education and student affairs, and her leadership skills,鈥 said Mary Croughan, provost and executive vice chancellor. 鈥淚 have every confidence of her success in this role and the positive impact on the School of Education.鈥

Jason Stewart, assistant director, Office of Budget and Institutional Analysis, in Finance, Operations and Administration, started this week as interim assistant executive vice chancellor and chief of staff to Provost Croughan. Karl Mohr, who retired last year after serving as assistant executive vice chancellor and chief of staff in the Office of the Provost for a decade, will return for a few months on a part-time basis to provide support to Stewart and the provost.

Stewart, who has worked at 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis since 2009, recently wrapped up a seven-month stint as interim university registrar, also reporting to the provost and executive vice chancellor. 鈥淛ason鈥檚 extensive knowledge of the campus and his past excellent work with the Office of the Provost will serve our office and our campus well,鈥 Croughan said.

Jones joined the provost鈥檚 office in June 2021 after previously serving as assistant vice chancellor and chief of staff in the Division of Student Affairs at 澳门六合彩资料库 Berkeley and chief of staff to the executive vice president and provost in the 澳门六合彩资料库 Office of the President.

Expertise in K-12

Jones, who holds a master鈥檚 degree in education from 澳门六合彩资料库LA and a doctorate in educational administration, granted jointly by 澳门六合彩资料库LA and 澳门六合彩资料库 Irvine, has a deep level of expertise in K-12 education. She is a credentialed, multiple-subject teacher (she taught elementary school in Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange counties for six years), and served in leadership positions in teacher education at 澳门六合彩资料库 Riverside and 澳门六合彩资料库 Irvine.

In addition, Jones has worked with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in several leadership roles, including co-chair for the Committee on Accreditation, and served on the board of directors for the California Council on Teacher Education.

Lauren Lindstrom, dean of the School of Education, said: 鈥淲e are very fortunate to bring on board someone of Dr. Jones鈥 caliber in this new position, particularly with support from the provost and chancellor鈥檚 offices.

鈥淥ur academic and youth programs serve not only hundreds of 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis undergraduate and graduate students annually, but also more than 17,000 K-12 students in communities as far north as Shasta and Siskiyou counties. It鈥檚 really exciting to have someone as experienced as Dr. Jones in this crucial role.鈥
