Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter recently announced that both the and the will formally report through the Office of the Provost effective July 1.
鈥淎s the chief academic and chief budget officer for 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph Hexter is best placed to oversee these two signature arts institutions 鈥 one well-established and one just being created 鈥 and leverage them with all the strengths of 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis," Katehi said. "This arrangement recognizes that the Mondavi Center and the Shrem Museum serve and benefit the entire university and will also strengthen their connection to the regional arts community."
The Mondavi Center has been reporting through the Office of the Chancellor, while the planning and fundraising efforts for the museum have been overseen by the Division of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies in the College of Letters and Science. Museum construction will start this summer.
Hexter said: 鈥淭he Mondavi Center transformed the role of the arts at 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis and our impact on the entire region. I am excited to engage more directly with Mondavi Executive Director Don Roth and Founding Director of the Shrem Museum Rachel Teagle to further accelerate this transformation with the development of the Shrem Museum.鈥
Hexter also lauded the leadership of Jessie Ann Owens, outgoing dean of the Division of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies for carefully stewarding the planning for the Shrem Museum. 鈥淛essie Ann鈥檚 vision and determination has led us to this exciting moment and I cannot thank her enough for her efforts,鈥 Hexter said.
