Ensembles, bands and an update on the recital hall project

More quarter-ending concerts (the Early Music and Baroque ensembles, and the Concert and Campus bands) are scheduled through the weekend, along with an extra treat for music aficionados: an update on the forthcoming Classroom and Recital Hall construction project.

The public information session is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday (March 13), in the Yocha Dehe Grand Lobby, Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, after the Shinkoskey Noon Concert in the same venue.

Architects and project managers are due to present the "fine-tuned" design for the Classroom and Music Recital Hall ahead of the May 2 groundbreaking ceremony.

Now, for the concerts:

• Shinkoskey Noon Concert — Hui-Mei Lin and Bari Mort, piano duo, perform Sheep May Safely Graze (Bach), Petroushka (Stravinsky), Scaramouche (Milhaud), Memories of Childhood (Pinto) and Valentine (Nils Vigeland). Free. 12:05 p.m. Thursday (March 13), Yocha Dehe Grand Lobby, Mondavi Center.

• The Concert Spirituel — Early Music and Baroque ensembles, 7 p.m. Saturday (March 15), Episcopal Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane, Davis. Suggested donation: $6 students and children, $12 adults.

• Imaginings: Magic and Mysticism — The Concert and Campus bands perform Harry's Wondrous World (Williams), Alladin Suite (Nielsen) and Swashbuckler (Giroux), 3 p.m. Sunday (March 16), Jackson Hall, Mondavi Center.
