Community Invited to Guantanamo Film and Q&A

Oct. 9, Monday -- The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis Center for the Study of Human Rights in the Americas is showing the film "The Road to Guantanamo," followed by a question-and-answer session with Gitanjali Gutierrez, an attorney for the prisoners featured in the film. The film and discussion will take place at 7 p.m. in the Varsity Theater, 616 Second St., Davis. Donations of $10 are requested for this fundraiser to support the Guantanamo Testimonials Project of the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis human rights center (). Participants will receive a free copy of Michael Ratner's 2004 book "Guantanamo: What the World Should Know." The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis center focuses on human rights across the American continent by gathering information, interpreting it from cross-disciplinary perspectives and creating relevant university courses.
