°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis' art workshop in Woodland is celebrating Dia de los Muertos with altar installations by members of the community, accompanied by music and a talk on Mexica culture, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday (Nov. 2).
The celebration is a collaborative effort of (Art Workshop of the New Dawn) and Woodland Community College.
The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis Department of Chicana/o Studies manages Taller Arte del Nuevo Amancer, or TANA, at 1224 Lemen Ave.
The Dia de Los Muertos program includes music by Orion Chacon-Hurst and a talk by Professor Juan Hernandez of California State University, Sacramento.
The altars are traditional — a way to honor the dead in the hope that their departed souls will revisit their family and friends. Such altars often include photos and other remembrances of those who have passed.
