Video Added: ‘°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis LIVE’ on Testing Wastewater for COVID-19

May 20, 2 p.m. — In addition to testing individuals, testing wastewater for COVID-19 is another way to track the pandemic. How does wastewater testing work? What can it tell us about the pandemic, and how is it being applied in the Davis community?

Joining us this week are two of the people bringing wastewater testing to Davis as part of the Healthy Davis Together initiative.

  • Heather Bischel is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis. She studies sustainable sanitation and environmental contaminants in water. Her lab set up COVID-19 testing in wastewater first on the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ¿â Davis campus and now in the city of Davis.
  • Stan Gryczko is director of public works, utilities and operations for the city of Davis. As such, he is responsible for implementing wastewater testing through the Healthy Davis Together program.

The conversation, hosted by Soterios Johnson, will be streamed live on , and beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20.

Questions can be submitted via Facebook and Twitter either in advance or during the show.
