A public event worth considering is the fifth annual global tea colloquium at 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis. The Global Tea Initiative for the Study of Tea Culture and Science is holding its colloquium next Thursday and Friday, Jan.16-17, at the 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis Conference Center. This year鈥檚 event, 鈥淭he Great Debate: Discussion on Tea and Wine,鈥 is co-organized with the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science (RMI). 

A part of the College of Letters and Science, the Global Tea Initiative focuses on both the culture and the science of tea from its origins in Asia and spreading to almost every continent on the planet. Unique in the world, the GTI fosters research and collaboration across the sciences, humanities and social sciences campus wide to explore the wide-ranging impact of tea on ceramics, gender roles, health practices and more all over the world.

Appreciation and Adaptation: Homage to Global Textiles, 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis Design Museum, Cruess Hall, Room 124, opens Friday Jan. 23, running through April 18, free. The exhibition, curated by Paul J. Smith, highlights 鈥渢raditional textiles from Africa, Asia and South America鈥 as well as 鈥渨orks by 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis students鈥that are] highlighting the continuing relevance of traditional cultures and how they drive design thinking in new directions.鈥 More information on the exhibit, along with museum hours,

鈥 Winter Season Celebration, Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, Sunday, Jan. 26, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., free 

  • The celebration marks the opening of two new exhibitions at the Manetti Shrem (Stephen Kaltenbach: The Beginning and The End, and Gesture: The Human Figure After Abstraction/Selections from the Manetti Shrem Museum) as well as the installation of outdoor sculptures by Manuel Neri.  More about the exhibition and opening event is available here.
