Basement Gallery Art Studio Senior Show; apply now

Senior Shows allow art studio students, with senior standing, to curate and host their own show with the help of The Basement Gallery team. Artists must choose at least one other student to present their work with. If you do not already have collaborator(s) in mind, the team will pair you with other student(s) with similar work or concepts. If you choose to participate, your work will be up for a Friday of your choice in the latter half of the quarter! The Basement Gallery team will assist you with installation, curation, and de-installation. You will be responsible for any food, drinks, and music that you would like to include for your reception, however the team may be able to assist you with this if necessary.

The Basement Gallery plans to have shows ready by the middle of the quarter (week 4) to give seniors enough time to prepare their work.

If you are interested in having a senior show this spring quarter, please fill out the form . The last day to apply is Sunday, April 14 at 11:59 p.m.

'Make-It More': hybrid pieces created with maker equipment and traditional means at Craft Center

The Maker movement, as we have come to know it, is the current step (or modernization) of a continuous process. The desire to make has long defined humans. Tools, art, etc., these could arguably be the defining characteristics of humanity, and makers have been at it since the beginning.

The 澳门六合彩资料库 Davis Craft Center was born of a particularly fruitful time in the 60s and 70s when getting 鈥渙ff the grid,鈥 being self-sufficient, and living with nature held great appeal to many people. That population created the Craft Center.

This show features multiple Craft Center artists that have combined new with old crafting techniques. Each artists collection contains contact information for purchasing questions. More information and hours

The U.S. Premiere of Blanche Neige (Snow White) was a centerpiece of the Mondavi Center鈥檚 10th Anniversary Season. It also was like nothing else audiences here had ever seen. Angelin Preljocaj鈥檚 celebrated company returns with another groundbreaking story ballet, Swan Lake, a work which Preljocaj likens to 鈥渁n Everest.鈥 Combining Tchaikovsky鈥檚 musical masterpiece with more contemporary sounds, the company refashions and deepens the love story against a backdrop of family conflict. Magnificent dancers, stunning costumes and a classic story combine to elevate this mythical classic to new heights.

Mike Henderson: Before the Fire, 1965鈥1985 at Manetti Shrem

Through June 25, Manetti Shrem Museum

澳门六合彩资料库 Davis Professor Emeritus Mike Henderson鈥檚 first solo U.S. museum exhibition in 20 years brings to light the pioneering artist鈥檚 rarely seen contributions to the history of contemporary painting and filmmaking, radical Black politics, and to the story of California art. The exhibition integrates paintings and films by Henderson that offer new ideas about Black life in the visual languages of protest, Afro-futurism and surrealism. Challenging the protocols and propriety of art-making in the 20th century, these works depict scenes of anti-Black violence as well as utopian visions and questions of self-making. Curated by Sampada Aranke (Ph.D. 鈥13) and Dan Nadel.

Featuring everything from wild animals to household furniture, her work has a surreal, timeless quality that evokes a feeling of 鈥渉ome.鈥 Cathi Newlin is a ceramic sculptor. She uses real and imagined animals as the theme of her creative work. Both artists have a light-hearted, playful take on artmaking that leads them to explore imagery full of fantasy, surrealism, or comedic exaggeration.
